Angus Choral Society is rehearsing for “The Messiah”
The choir has almost doubled in size recently for two reasons. First is the undoubted attraction of singing such a great musical work. Second is the privilege of rehearsing under a highly talented Musical Director, Graeme Stevenson, best known for directing the choir of the University of Dundee. Graeme is teaching us all the musical subtleties of Handel’s Messiah.
The performance will take place in St John’s Episcopal Church in Forfar at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday 9th December with outstanding soloists, keyboard, organ and orchestral accompaniment.
Tickets, including refreshments, are £10 for adults. Accompanied children come free.
By contrast, our Spring Concert will be entirely secular. We plan to do a programme of nautical themed works: Sea Drift (Delius), Chivalry of the Sea (Parry – on his centenary) and Songs of the Fleet (Stanford).
Rehearsals for the Spring Concert will commence on Friday 5th January at 7.30 p.m. in East and Old Church Hall, Chapel Street, Forfar. Thereafter every Friday, same time, same place. All singers are welcome. The date of the Spring Concert is Saturday 21st April. More details to follow.
